Deeper than it has any right to be. The major monotheistic religions all claim to honor the golden rule; yet, each of these religions sets conditions that make affirmation of the golden rule well-nigh impossible for their devout believers. Each religion claims to have special insight into God's will and maintains that those who fail to acknowledge that truth are ignorant if not evil. In short, organized religion is hard-wired for intolerance and is inherently dangerous.
