There is an excellent report about job creation in New York City put out by the New York City Budget Office headed by Dr. Larian Angelo called "Empty in the Middle." The basic point of the report is that the city has lost middle income jobs (like mine in Bell Atlantic) and that most jobs are either very, very low paid or very highly paid (like Wall Street stock brokers).
