I'm with you, sister. We have got to figure out some criminal punishments for the big bourgeoisie. What about the Ford Rouge Plant in Dearborn, Michigan having a big blowup killing about 6 people within the month ? I think William Clay Ford should spend a little time in jail for that. Henry Ford the Second never paid a price for the exploding Pintos that killed and maimed many. Those deaths were less expensive to pay the civil death claim on than fix the murderous problem. That's profits before people murder. That's why I wonder if they might neglect to fix some Y2K problems that might cause deaths because they might lose more money doing the early fix.

Of course I

also feel the same way about corporate offenders -- those companies which

cause the death of workers or people in a community should also be put to

death.

well, what i had in mind were disasters like three mile island or mining accidents or this chemical plant which just blew up or.... I mean, most of these horrible disasters are the fault of direct, individual managers who ignored safety regulations in the pursuit of profit. If this is the case, how are they any less murderers than someone who is individually insane? A tremendous amount of stuff done in the name of corporate profit would be criminal if performed by an individual. During the 1989 strike we (in the CWA) went to OSHA and denounced the use of hazardous chemicals and lead in the streets of new york. New York Tel ( aka nynex aka bell atlantic) was fined millions and had to train all its employees in hazmat materials and was forced to discontinue 90% of its chemical use -- but they still don't provide showers at the end of the day for splicers who work with lead, and how many deformed babies have they had and who is responsible?????? And what about the thousands of employees and consumers affected by the use of those chemicals before they were discontinued??? maggie coleman mscoleman at aol.com
