I mean, most of these horrible disasters are the fault of direct, individual managers who ignored safety regulations in the pursuit of profit. If this is the case, how are they any less murderers than someone who is individually insane? A tremendous amount of stuff done in the name of corporate profit would be criminal if performed by an individual. During the 1989 strike we (in the CWA) went to OSHA and denounced the use of hazardous chemicals and lead in the streets of new york. New York Tel ( aka nynex aka bell atlantic) was fined millions and had to train all its employees in hazmat materials and was forced to discontinue 90% of its chemical use -- but they still don't provide showers at the end of the day for splicers who work with lead, and how many deformed babies have they had and who is responsible?????? And what about the thousands of employees and consumers affected by the use of those chemicals before they were discontinued??? maggie coleman mscoleman at aol.com
