Only during the first run-through of the game. Cheat codes are most useful when you've downloaded a custom map and can't find the entrance to the next level, otherwise you waste lots of time. The fun really isn't the melee, it's the mapping process whereby you figure out how a given map works, what the strong/weak points are, and gradually piece together a counter-strategy. It's really high-tech raquetball. Also, Halflife is a lot more fun when you punch up the ammunition -- all that scrounging wears thin after awhile, and the gluon gun just takes too much ammo to be an effective melee weapon.

Interestingly, Toshiba and Sony are producing a next-generation Playstation with chips more powerful than the Pentium 3. Intel better start cutting its prices for real, because the East Asian electromultis are going to do to the microprocessor market what they've already done in the DRAM market.
