someone made reference in an earlier post to DeNiro making the presentation to Kazan last nite, he played producer Monroe Stahr in Kazan's movie version of Fitzgerald's unfinished novel *The Last Tycoon*...

someone else mentioned Scorcese, he has said that the 1970 film festival in Sorrento, Italy was where he met and got to know everybody that would be helpful to him in the future (including Kazan)...Paul Sorvino called Scorcese the successor to Kazan... does S's enthusiastic applauce last nite render his portrayal of the commie director who leaves the country rather than face HUAC in *Under Suspicion* (think that is title) ironic?...Michael Hoover
