Editor

Dollars and Sense, the 25-year-old progressive economics magazine based in Boston, seeks a coeditor who is comfortable working in a collectively run environment. As well as publishing a growing, 8,500 circulation bimonthly, Dollars and Sense runs an economic news service and is the publisher of six anthologies for classroom use.

The coeditor will share responsibility for soliciting articles, planning the editorial schedule, editing features, and writing and editing short articles for the magazine. The coeditor also will write at least three features a year, help manage the magazine's book publishing business, and share other administrative duties.

The coeditor will take primary responsibility for selecting and editing articles for our economic news service, a new initiative which distributes shortened versions of our magazine articles to labor newspapers and the alternative press.

As part of a team of two business and two editorial staff, the coeditor will work closely with a volunteer collective of journalists, activists and social scientists committed to social justice and economic democracy.

Excellent editing, writing, and administrative skills, progressive politics and professional experience required. Economics background a plus. Salary: $27,500 plus COLA and 5% annual raise, full health and four weeks vacation. Starting date: May 1.
