As a little break from the 'yugoslovenskie dela', here's Mikhail Sergeevich on the difference between Soviet Communism and real Socialism:

'In the February plenary session in 1988, I made a speech against those who were against reforms -- those who allegedly were protecting socialism, but were [in fact] protecting a totalitarian regime that denies people a normal life. And [I said] we cannot walk the same path with those who try to present this as socialism.'

Pity he got turfed out. I think Russia and the Russians -- and perhaps the world as a whole -- would be in much better shape today had that not happened.
