BELGRADE (Reuters) - Serbian state television channel RTS said NATO killed at least 60 people Saturday when a missile hit a bus on a bridge north of the Kosovo provincial capital Pristina.

RTS showed pictures of what it said was the destroyed bus on a bridge and bodies scattered nearby. RTS said four people survived the attack.

RTS said the bus had been cut in two while on a bridge in the town of Luzane, 20 km (12 miles) north of Pristina.

Half the vehicle plunged off the bridge while passengers in the other half burned to death.

There was no independent confirmation. In Brussels, NATO officials said they were checking the report. An alliance military source said the bridge was not on NATO's target list, but added: ``This doesn't mean it didn't happen.''

The attack, if verified, would have caused one of the highest civilian death tolls in the NATO air campaign so far.
