I been lost in computers, reading non-fiction, and following the disintegration of the public realm here for too long. I haven't looked at art or read fiction since _The Possessed_ a year and half ago. I did read "Rome" from the Parise collection last night just to refresh my memory. The last thing I saw of Herzog's was his documentary of the burning oil fields of Kuwait. It was too long and its frightening beauty began to pale under repetition. Even so, it was stunning. A sweeping panorama of hell.
I'll keep the first volume of Parise in mind, for later. Thanks for the reference.
