- Charlemagne Prize for British Prime Minister Blair

Aachen. British Prime Minister Tony Blair again defended NATO air-attacks. The alliance was fighting for humanity, said Blair in accepting the Charlemagne Prize of Aachen. In his speech honoring Blair, French Prime Minister Lionel Jospin praised Blair's contributions in bringing Great Britain closer to the EU. The Charlemagne Prize is awarded to individuals who have worked toward European unity.
