The New York City subway system occasionally plays recorded announcements that are broadcast throughout stations. The messages typically give tips on keeping your goods safe from pickpockets, or urge you to please not hold train doors open, etc. The latest one, which I heard three times in ten minutes this morning, reads as follows:
"Panhandling on the subways is illegal. Please don't give money to LAWBREAKERS. Instead, give to charities that help those in need." [emphasis added]
