The Al Gore joke for the rest of this
week will be based on his remark today,
to the effect that "Barry Goldwater is
moving toward the center."  

AG was reported by his staff to have made
the remark with an awareness of the Senator's
demise, but without doubt he will get
the Dan Quayle treatment in any case.
