Yeah, but AT&T's divestiture saw 'em get all kinds of contemporarily vital compensations, no? Like getting back into the labs and manufacturing sunrise goodies, and penetrating new boom markets (esp. abroad). All stuff they couldn't do after the 1956 Consent Decree. I realise I'm no Gates, but I find it hard to see how MS is gonna score that kind of bonus out of a similar event here and now.
