Oh boy, as if the world of analytic philosophy isn't hermetic or elitist. Nussbaum's own books and essays presuppose a working understanding of Plato, Aristotle, Aristophanes, Sophocles,Aeschylus, the Sceptics, the Cynics, the Stoics as well as dense Henry James novels like the Golden Bowl and Princess Cassamassima. That said, her books are tremendous works.
