sorry for overlimit but jesuschristoncrutches carl. the fantasy in the graduate was just exactly what's messed up about the whole thing. what was the deal with that situation, huh? she was out for sex and sex only. she was out to seduce. she was the liar and the drunk. she was the one taking advantage of him, the romantic young man who wanted sex for a meaningful relationship.

ohchrist. this--THIS--is what you uphold as a meanigful older woman, younger man relationship.

brett, fromt he get-go het women's notions of what's attractive about a man are prescribed by the images and relationships they see around them. they see flick after flick with sean connery the sexiest man alive still having a go with a 25 year old. they see relationship in which plenty of young attractive women are with men who aren't particularly attractive --as defined by the media. and this is precisely because of the fact that women are segregated in the job market such that 80% of all women are employed as clericals, teachers and nurses. now, clearly there is economic inequality and clearly het n learn pretty quickly that if they want to have "the life" then they'd better settle down with a man who has the kind of job that will afford them "the life" if all women are goig for "the life" [as the majority of USers are} then this means that men who have good jobs but aren't necessarily attractive have more power in the dating/marriage market. use economic principles of supply and demand here.

i'm going to go bang my heaad against a steel wall coz i think it'll be much more enjoyable than this convo katha
