Some group of largely unknowns have risen to challenge the existing leadership of the NYC chapter, which is now led by a fine fellow named Sean Sweeney. They've been signing up people like crazy in advance of their run - whole extended families in Brooklyn from a single address, etc. One of the challengers is a supporter of the evil (Malthusian, anti-immigrant) Carrying Capacity Network <http://www.carryingcapacity.org/>. Most don't share those politics, but they do object to Sweeney's plans to picket the Central Labor Council for endorsing Giuliani and for criticizing DC37's (the main city worker union) diseased links to the Democratic Party.
