In the debate on NUMMI and the Toyota Production System, Adler took the
position that
TPS was an advance for workers on the old assembly line and taylorism. Not
a completely isolated position on the left, but of course on that was
vigorously rebutted by Parker and Slaughter in Management by Stress.
