Q1) Does anyone happen to know where to find the complete original text of Blair's speech on Eurocops (on-line)? What is defined as "Internet crime" and where is this term legitimated? (i.e., will they be using the common-sense definition, or is there some legislative document that defines "internet crime" explicitly). This came on the ITN bulletin (http://www.itn.co.uk/World/world19991015/101502w.htm?DTN )
Blair's vision of European 'super cops' force
Britain's Prime Minister Tony Blair wants to create a force of European
'super-cops' to combat drug trafficking, illegal immigration, paedophile rings
and Internet crime.
The Prime Minister, who is attending a special EU summit in Tampere,
Finland, is said to believe international solutions are now required to
European-wide organised crime.
Q2) Unfortunately, these don't come with a glossary or footnotes (http://www.itn.co.uk/Britain/brit19991015/101501.htm?DTN )
"But following his hard-line on Europe at the Conservative Party conference,
William Hague announced his Battle for the Pound and Battle for Britain
campaign" Luckily, I downloaded Hug's "Save the Pound" speech at the September conference, too - but it seems to have just an emotional appeal ; has he expanded his arguments in a more rational manner elsewhere?
"Mr Blair told Thursday's launch conference, "To be part of Europe is in the
British national interest. This is a patriotic cause therefore. The people here
represent a patriotic alliance that puts country before party" TB's speech at the Labour conference (People's Hoot) might have been written by a Soviet rank-and-file provincial party organiser - Jim, have you already flamed him and where??? How does he plan to "sweep away conservatism"?
The good news is that my students (who declare themselves "apolitical") kicked the Soros lecturer out of the classroom on Thursday :-)))))))) He was supposed to teach a course in European anything (it was left up to him to choose the exact something), so he chose to lecture on European Integration. So the mean savages rebelled and demanded that, if he refuses to change the subject, could he, at least, not do Europropaganda but present other view points and agree to have discussions. He, naturally, declined the offer... As my class happened right after this event (cultural studies, huh?), I promised to supply them with subversive stuff to bring to the Euroclass. Alain's report from Tampere will be the first thing - btw, no media mentions there's an anti Euro-summit in Tampere. So, Carol, the net is the only source of information and if anyone anywhere comes upon alternative eurovisions - please forward them off-list - they'll be put to good use, indeed! This can probably also help the Soros guy grow up a bit too - right now, he is so full of Soros stuff that you can see the eurostars flashing in his eyes. ("Apolitical" is a HUGE step forward - it reminds me of the "apolitical" position way back, which was actually passive resistance to the dominant ideology; and the other GREAT thing is that these are the same students who jumped like mad in the Jumping Revolution that brought down the socialist government in Bg a couple of years ago...)
