"As awful as it is, a physician punching out an elderly woman on the highway is not a violation of the (Medical) Practices Act",

Minnesota Board of Medical Practice executive director Robert Leach, commenting on Dr. Thomas J. Valente assault charges.

[Dr. Valente punched a 69-year old woman (in the face, with a closed fist, a day before her 70th birthday, and she was also wearing glasses) because she may have cut him and his BMW off on a morning commute--Valente is pain management specialist at Queen of Peace Hospital.]

----------------- "Managed care is the current jargon for bottom line health care. I don't mean to sound like a Karl Marxist but it's all about money. . . . There are people who'd rather have a dollar in their pocket than to have you alive. . . . HMO's are a bet you don't get sick-- you know, too sick. Because as long as you don't get too sick, they'll make money. See how the word "care" is confusing here?"
