re: Chris Burford: "So the tough question I would like addressed is, are subscribers in favour of western intervention in East Timor. AND IF SO WHAT?"

Is it agreed that "western intervention" (Portugese colonization, US-Australia-England support of Indonesia's invasion) created the problems?

Not being able to come up with a painless course of action, I have another idea. Let's start a lottery with everyone putting up a dollar with a guess when the US will take military action to "protect democracy" and stop the "ethnic cleansing" in East Timor. The one closest wins all. However, if no *real* action occurs I get to keep all the money.
