much better than the saying 'In cyberspace no one can hear you scream' (although you can apparently yell if you use all caps) is the character Gabe in Pat Cadigan's novel _Synners_ who experiences what no disembodied consciousness in cyberspace ever wants to experience: he is unable to scream in frustration at being unable to remember what it feels like to have a body because he no longer has anything to scream with.
