>and "De Fabel" certainly have a point about the ideological (and
organisational) links between parts of the anti-"free trade" movement
and the right. One only needs to look at the rhetoric of groups like the
UK Independence Party (a largely rural based group with a strong anti-EU
platform) to get a bit worried about a one-dimensional anti-free-trade
position.<
one-dimensional it certainly is in many instances, much to my surprise i should add. i guess the question that de fabel van de illegaal raise is whether or not the anti-free trade campaigns are salvagable or able to move outside of racism. they have clearly decided not, and i'm not unpersuaded. there are certainly strong splits occuring within the some of the j18 discussions over this, for instance. i'm wondering to what extent people like ian working on the seattle anti-WTO stuff have encountered this as a problem. or indeed, whether it is regarded as a problem.
