I just realized I made a computational error in my cost/benefit comparison.
The total cost of recreational car rental (21 days @ $50) is $1,050 (not
$1,500), which lowers the total cost of alternative transportation to
$2,730 per year. That is over $1,700 saving (comparing to average cost of
a car) a year!!!
