Economist/Senior Fellow

Demos: A Network for Ideas and Action, is a new public policy organization based in New York City and focused on two of the most urgent challenges facing the United States in the 21st century: Strengthening our democracy and creating more broadly shared economic prosperity.

Economist/Senior Fellow

Responsibilities. Working with the President and Director of Research, the economist/senior fellow will develop Demos' shared prosperity program. Responsibilities will include: taking a lead role in planning program goals and activities over the next three years; cultivating relationships with senior academics, policymakers, and practitioners who can advise Demos on its shared prosperity program; undertaking some original research and policy analysis for reports or briefs published by Demos; commissioning research and written work by outside consultants and managing these products through the publication phase; and helping to develop advocacy and communications campaigns aimed at broadly disseminating Demos' work in the shared prosperity area.

Qualifications. The ideal candidate will possess: a strong scholarly background (preferably a Ph.D) as well as direct experience in policymaking, or policy advocacy/analysis at either the state or federal level; a broad knowledge of the key issues related to economic inequality, poverty, and the policy responses to these problems; and strong research and writing skills.
