Steel dumping cases against India, others to continue: US
WASHINGTON: The US International Trade Commission (USITC) has voted to
continue dumping investigations into imports of steel wire rope from India,
China and Malaysia.
In a 6-0 vote on Friday, the commissioners made a preliminary determination
that they had enough evidence of injury or threat to US industry from the
imports.
It rejected an investigation on Thailand.
Imposition of anti-dumping duties requires affirmative final determination
both from the US commerce department on dumping and from USITC on injury.
The preliminary commerce department determination is expected in August.
Imports of steel wire rope from the four countries in 1999 amounted to $35.5
million. (PTI)
