It can be argued that any proposition of the form, "X has historic roots in the U.S.," is false, regardless of what you substitute for X. Perhaps one exception: There are real historic roots in the U.S. for "Well, back to the drawing board!" And, of course, that does pretty well express anarchist theory. So perhaps anarchism has very deep roots in the U.S.
