India test-fires naval version of missile NEW DELHI: The first developmental flight trial of Dhanush, the ship-launched version of surface-to-air missile, was carried out in the Bay of Bengal off the Orissa coast on Tuesday. The 150-km range Dhanush was launched from a naval ship at 1.35 pm "The flight met with partial success," sources in the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) said here. Dhanush is part of DRDO's Integrated-Guided Missile Development Programme (IGMDP) and is expected to be developed as a naval version of Prithvi, which has ranges of 150 km and 250 km in its two variants. "The naval version will take some time as the platform on a ship is entirely different from that on the surface," DRDO sources said. (UNI)
