REBELLION WITHOUT A CAUSE.
In one of many letters-to-the-editors of the New York Times (p.A24) and the Washington Post (p.A26), Rabbi Bruce Cohen writes that Paul Krugman (column, April 19) uncovers the false "moral superiority" of those who attacked the World Bank in Washington. The demonstrators exuded ignorance, he says. Under James D. Wolfensohn, the Bank is on the cutting edge of empowering people to uplift themselves by their own means.
Meanwhile, Washington, DC Police Chief Charles Ramsey, who handled actions against demonstrators during the recent spring meetings of the World Bank and the IMF Washington, will visit the Czech Republic to advise the Czech police ahead of the two institutions' 2000 annual meetings scheduled for September in Prague, reports the Hospodarske Noviny (Czech Republic).
