Can anyone on the list explain what's going on in Norway these days? Or recommend a good URL? The FT says that two-thirds of the country's largest labor federation voted down a contract that provided 4% raises this year and the next plus a fifth week of vacation. I stand rather in awe of their militance and power, and also suspect that the FT left out some relevant details. Also I was wondering about the "solidarity pact" that this confrontation seems to threaten. According to the FT "This pact as served as the Norwegian wage model to help restore full employment while keeping inflation down." Sounds interesting, and once again, I wonder what how it looks to a leftist.
