> CALL TO ACTION: THE EVOLUTION OF A MOVEMENT

> The Corporate Media has used the strategy of blackout and misinformation
regarding recent protests in the last century. Unlike in the past where civil rights movements, and anti-war in the 50's-70's when coverage was extensive and global, the current media often lies and spreads far more misinformation then even the police. Since, the 60's when corporations and government were slightly (SLIGHTLY) less separate, the media gave information to the people with a less (LESS) biased stance. Now that the corporations have bought the government, the global economy, and especially, the media the peoples number one source for information, they have become all in the same.
>
> Protestors are now confronted with the grim reality that protests and
demonstrations cannot change public policy. Their function is to turn the spotlight of public opinion on the abuse of power. If the national news media ignores the civil disobedience in Los Angeles as it did in Philadelphia, then we won't have accomplished a thing, all that happens is we all go home with police records and black eyes.
>
> "The police don't care about our issues. The convention delegates and
candidates clearly don't care about our issues. How can the activism community make the national media sit up and take notice in Los Angeles? How can we break through this corporate news blackout? We cannot in good conscience go out onto the streets of Los Angeles until we know how we are going to solve that problem." -Mark Dixon
>
> The answer is simple. No longer will the traditional protests work, no
longer will we be able to spread any message with this new tactic in a progressed society. Now we must realize that these institutions are one in the same, the corporations own the police, the media, the 'elected' officials, and the schools. The very people we are protesting against are who we rely on to spread our message! I believe we should start many more IMC like web sites, newspapers, radio, and public television broadcasts. The Corporate Media is just as much our enemy corporations. Unlike the corporations that exploit and destroy people, the corporate media brainwashes our neighbors into hating us, spreads lies about us, promotes the greed that pays them, and seeks the total totalitarianism of this country.
>
> It seems that now the only way to get our message across is we must take
our civil disobedience TO the media, we must MAKE them listen because we are tired of begging. Now, we must use non-violent civil disobedience to disrupt the media, block doors at TV stations, zero cooperation with them, disrupt they're lie spreading messages, and possibly sabotage they're equipment that transmits to propaganda and brainwashing machines located in every household (television/radio). And remember vandalism is NOT violence, if you track the money back, all those things were paid for by the same people who exploit millions and support mass genocide overseas.
>
> The new movement is suffering heavy casualties because it has not yet
adapted like the corporate run society has, they're tactics are changing and defeating us, now its time for ours to change. Lets get the message out and point the movement in the next logical direction. Without this step our messages will never be heard. The advantage Martin Luther King, Ghandi, and the 60's activists had was that there movements were heavily covered by the media creating public sentiment, ours are heavily slandered by the media creating public hatred of the very people trying to improve there lives and protect human rights. Take a stand and evolve, we now know that our message have not been heard using the current tactics.
>
> Proposal:
>
> -Start alternative media and support it.
>
> -Protest, shut down, and use the means you are comfortable with to stop
the slander of our movement by a corporate run media.
>
>
> This is the first call to action on anything like this. This will evolve
just as everything has, but we must realize that if we are to promote change in society we must be able to embrace change ourselves.

Aids. Police Brutality Activists. Reds, Blacks, Greens, Revolutionary, Non-violence. Third World Justice... WHEN WILL WE RELIEZE WE ARE ONE IN THE SAME? Stand for your right, to UNITE!
