Gramsci on generals, armies, and recruitment thereof

I recall Gramsci talking about the desirability of the military splitting 
horizontally, away from leadership rather than vertically, with factions 
following particular generals. It is somewhere in The Prison Notebooks, could 
be included in that new collection just out too.
