As someone who has had responsibility in the running of elections at Parliamentary and Local Authority levels, I have been sitting in gape mouthed astonishment reading the reports that have come out of Florida about the conduct of the electoral process - at the polling station level and upwards.
In the UK people from both the local authority as well as the party officers would, I reckon, have been under arrest on the day for some of these! It's absolutely incredible and reflects my long-standing opinion of the USA as being a nuclear armed banana republic... a mindboggling combination.
