What my mother taught me, my dear brother Doug, was that you never pick a fight, never go around the schoolyard looking for someone to vent your anger on, but that you also never walk away from the schoolyard bully who wants to pick a fight with you. If you don't defend yourself, than you are sure to become his regular target. So as Camus put it, I seek to be neither executioner nor victim.

Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never has, and it never will. If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet deprecate agitation are men who want crops without plowing the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its waters. -- Frederick Douglass --
