wildly weird commentary for someone who knows better, who has obviously
seen people bent over, their bodies twisted, their gait jolted from years
of backbreaking work, work that they had no choice but to do. work that
did not afford them the time or even attentiveness to the rhythms of their
body in order to drink before thirst strikes or eat lightly before hunger
strikes. and, of course, it's all manly man labor, and no mention of the
backbreaking labor involved in standing at a counter, bent ever so-slightly
over a mindless task, while standing on concrete floors so that you spend
each morning carefully rolling out of bed, hoping that on that one morning
you won't be reduced to whimpering quietly so you don't wake anyone
else. ahhh, no, of course not. there is no redemption in waiting tables
or stooping over a stainless steel food production table or a cash register
or a mop bucket. redemption is only available for those who shovel shit
and/or earth and to those whose work is, what?, akin to cycling.
