perhaps we could get to the basic point, one that catherine and i were making: the distinctions tie into gender and race oppression. and, not coincidentally, one aspect of this binary opposition between mental and manual labor is that it is a nice little myth that leads people (white working class men in particular) to reinscribe their own oppression, if i can get all labor process theory on ya.
