Jeff St. Clair mentions the album Fear. Also the album by John Cale, "Paris 1919, " for some beautiful ballads and the 2CD anthology, "John Cale, "The Island Years." for the angry Cale.

And as for fascism, VU song, Venus In Furs, "Shiny leather, shiny boots of leather, whiplash girlchild in the dark, kiss the boot and love not given lightly...kiss the boot, now bleed for me."

Or the great song, "Gun, "by Cale, on the anthology."When you've begun to think like a gun...Blood on the windows and blood on the walls. Blood on the ceiling and down in the halls... When you've begun to live like a gun..."

P.S. And remember Elvis Costello wanted to call his album, "Armed Forces, " "Friendly Fascism" instead. Now he sings duets with Burt Bachrach and is gonna do Hart and Hammerstein. Say it ain't so...
