John Gulick, I'm not sure if you are saying if you believe that nutcase, Ted Sampley and Paul Weyrich? McCain threatens the fundraising cash cows of the religious right groups like the National Right to Life Committee and secular right groups like the gun nuts in the NRA and GOA, with the McCain-Feingold campaign finance bill. Soft money gravy train bye, bye. And the party establishment at the RNC and on K street, too, coalesced around Dubya Bush. Weyrich was the guy who originated the phrase the, "Moral Majority." He believes alot of nutty things like for example the Frankfurt School leads to Littleton/Columbine. Major figure in the New Right since Reagan especially. Declining power of the hard right inside the GOP now. (May not look that way to us lefties but perceptions are what matters.)

Now to the "gooks". I saw the stories this morning, McCain shoots off his mouth all the time, not surprised. He for example called Senator Dominici an asshole to his face. Twice. Senators have that collegiality thing. They don't do that kinda thing.

Finally, and getting to the point, the veterans groups that hate McCain for supporting normalization with Vietnam and still think Vietnam has POW's and MIA's in captivity, hate John for telling them flat out they are nuts on the latter, and the war ended 25 years ago. Get over it, essentially. For more on the POW/MIA mythology see the book by H. Bruce Franklin, published by Lawrence Hill.

P.S. Page 36, of the Feb. 28, 2000 issue of The Nation, has ad for a book that David Icke cites as "proof" that Bob Hope, Henry Kissenger, and George Bush, Sr. are Satanic mind control agents. Authors name is Brice Taylor. One can believe stories about MKULTRA mind control and LSD experimentation by the CIA, but at a certain point, this stuff crooses the line into that stuff I related a few days ago about reptilian/humanoid hybrids from outer space. Psychopolitics anyone?
