As the old saying goes, those who live by the front page die by the front page. Back in the early '70s the Guardian (NY), which had the best access to these figures, reported that there were substantially more demonstrations, building occupations, etc. etc. in 1970-71 than there were in 1969-70 -- but everyone thought theirs was the only one because none of them made the news. We had become media-addicts in the '60s, and if you allow that to happen, 'they' can kill your movement just by ignoring it -- smashed windows or no smashed windows.
