I think that it (the mm passage) spoke volumes about the state of the police.

Observing high school friends execute a 35 year old plan to meet at Futurama (bowling alley) for the millenium celebration was like watching an episode of "Hogan's Heroes" without Schultz.

The bowling alley had given way to an upgrade - cum Safeway, Ross, Linen Closet, personal fitness gym, and the standard twenty other shops. I hadn't been there more than 10 minutes (after 11 pm) - time to be introduced to the two of five others who I hadn't met yet and hear the newest obits when an unmarked sedan with two uniformed cops pulled up with their headlights into the group - mostly seated on the curbing in the parking lot - and interrogated and intimidated - "why don't you take it to someone's house?!" "If you're still here at 5 after 12 you're going to jail!" Two more black and white vehicles, a patrol car and a wagon pulled in within moments of the first and as each delivered another pair of uniforms the threats had to be repeated.

Too bad about "Never!" <g>
