center-right flummery, always mentions "welfare reform".
Michael Pugliese P.S. On the Chechnya thread, from the latest batch of sectariana, I got, from "Socialist Action" a split from SWP has a half page statement from, "Russian Association of Academics of Socialism and the Union of Internationists" against the war in Chechnya taken from a conference in Paris last October. I'm guessing the conference had participants from the Trotskyists who appear in Le Monde Diplomatique on occasion. The comments from Burford and Newman and others are a good start, and except for reading the Derlugian piece in New Left Review ("Che Guevara in Turbins") from a few issues ago I'm as out of my depth on this one as I was on Bosnia, Kosovo, or Iraq before events forced one to get up to speed. On some other lists, the rhetoric is getting pretty rebarbitive and polarized, much worse than what our lbo thread has seen yet.
