I wonder when the folks at FT will tire of this kind of crap. It is probably not worth reminding them that, as recently as 1993, Business Week was proclaiming the triumph of the Japanese model and the obsolesence of the public corporation. I'm beginning to get a better sense of what Ted means about the shrillness of neoliberals.

Except that Japan departed those shores in 1945, the moment the, uh, "post-war" system that is now held in so low esteem began. If we want to talk about the occupying power that had much more to do with both Japanese and Korean development, we would do better to look to the U.S. Army and aid development programs (esp. in Korea).
