Why Decry the Wealth Gap?

Traditionally conservatives have worried about growing inequality
because it threatens the stability of society. Growing inequality means
the growing possibility of insurrection or rioting (because
conservatives belive envy is a prime motivator in people.) It is the sad
state of the left that lets pundits can get away with gloating about
inequality without worrying about insurrection but his isn't true
everywhere just in profoundly conservative places like the U.S. and
Mexico. Who was the U.S. politician who said vis a vis the 95' Mexican
meltdown that "never before has there been a 50% reduction in wages
without a revolution"?
