"X-Files"-ism. Refers to an arch-sinister chain-smoking character who turns
up on the show on a regular basis to stoke the fires of viewer paranoia. I
believe he actually turns out to be the trigger man in the Kennedy
assassination, but I'm not sure. As conspiracy mongering goes, this subplot
is pretty tedious stuff.

Actually Cancer Man is credited w/assasinations of both JFK and MLK, as a younger man, in the series.
These things aside, for me the subplot (alien plans to colonize Earth) is the most interesting part of the series. The 'creature feature' episodes less so.
