That's kind of sexy/nasty, in the same way those
bloody naked Jesuses are. mkes me wonder about the
roots and strange pleasures of christian self-denial
and focus on sinfulness.

   Anybody on the list read, "The Sexuality of Christ in Renaissance Art and
in Modern Oblivion, " by Leo Steinberg. ??? Kicked up quite a storm when
originally published in the 80's.
