They do, don't they? Over the last several years I've been told countless times how the Religious Right was a threat to my liberties and welfare, usually toward the conclusion that I should stop being silly and vote for Democrats. If nothing else, religion has served faithfully as a bogeyman.

What about leftist religion? It seems to me that all kinds of potentials, some of them pretty scary, are released by or embodied in religious behavior.
