Only on the basis of memories of the distant past. Its liberal reputation came mostly as a result it having been one of the first major dailies to take a stance against the Vietnam War. During the 1970s, the Boston Globe strongly supported the Federal court decision mandating school busing in Boston. Also, during the 1970s it did for a time feature real leftwing columnists like Howard Zinn and Eric Mann. Now a days the Boston Globe is hardly more liberal than the NY Times which owns it.
