STATEMENT BY THE VICE PRESIDENT ON
THE DEATH OF TITO PUENTE
Tipper and I were deeply saddened today to learn of the death of Latin Jazz great, Tito Puente. Few people in this country can rival his musical accomplishments or selfless dedication to giving voice to the Latin Jazz movement. Last year, I was honored to have the privilege of watching Tito perform live-- so I can say what millions of Americans already know-- there will never be another quite like him.
Our hearts go out to his family, friends and millions of fans across the world whose lives his music touched.
