Jason Zanon <jzanon at ncadp.org> made a point (or was it Wotjek? sounds more like him, Jason's rhetorical tics aren't familiar to me yet) about sexy, dread locked death row cause celebres, that an article, recently in salon made about Waco and the left. Besides, misidentifying, Ramsey Clark as a liberal (!!!, call Jack Smith, the IAC needs better PR) the story made the same point. One of the pull quotes is, "It's the Rednecks vs. the Yuppies." The selective moral indignation of the left based on the cultural identities of the victims of state repression. Here is the URL. http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2000/06/19/waco/index.html

And, from someone who was there at the demo in NYC, are some corrections on the numbers who protested.

It was fairly multinational, but the substantial majority were still white. It was definitely youthful and militant, but there were nowhere near 1000 demonstrators there. I didn't do an actual count, but I walked the length of the march and estimated. There were probably 200-300. When we're summing things up for our own purposes, we should try to be as accurate as we can, otherwise we'll risk becoming delusional and making strategic and tactical errors.

Peace.
