[Forwarded from a UW prof. PFFT/No to WTO worked with last year, please spread far and wide]

Ward Morehouse (of the Program on Corporations, Law & Democracy and the Council on Internat'l & Public Affairs) was arrested in Seattle with Cheri Honkala as the two of them attempted to deliver the citizens' arrest warrant on the G-7 trade ministers from the Global Peoples Tribunal on Corporate Crimes Against Humanity. They were arrested as they stepped off the curb. Ward has been back to Seattle since then regarding the disposition of their case and was offered a plea bargain. He said he would only take it if Cheri was offered the same, which was refused; her offer was harsher. However, it was agreed that they would be tried together, and they're working on strategy.

In addition to everyone's letters below, on Cheri's and Ward's behalf, people in the Seattle area are urged to attend a WTO & FREE SPEECH meeting and potluck supper on Monday, March 13, 7 pm, at the Rainier Valley Unitarian Universalist Congregation. Cheri and Ward will be there, as well as Greg Kafoury, a Portland lawyer and presiding officer at the Tribunal hearings Nov. 27 & 28. The purpose is to talk about the larger issues and build support for the next day's trial, which people are also urged to attend: March 14, 8:30 am, Court One, Room 700, Public Safety Building, 600 Third Avenue.

WHAT YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT Right now, people throughout the country, including musicians, labor leaders, students, religious leaders, and lawyers are writing letters to the District Attorney's office in Seattle asking that charges be dismissed: Cheri Honkala (case# 371901) and Ward Morehouse (case #371902). Address your letter to City Attorney Mark Sidran, Municipal Building, 10th Floor, 600 4th Avenue, Seattle, WA, 98104, or fax to (206)684-8284. Please cc the KWRU Defense Committee at PO Box 50678, Philadelphia, PA 19132, 215-203-1950 FAX, kwru at libertynet.org. and to Ward's lawyer, Catherine Chaney, 810 Third Ave., Suite 757, Seattle 98104; fax 206-343-7781, cchaney at msn.com.

Thank you for your support.
