i already told you what i think ought to be done: self reflection

because calling justin an "almost liar" (to paraphrase) in the context of a thread lamenting the lack of participation is rilly rilly helpful in making people feel comfortable enough to post.

i think the issue, in general, is ridiculous and the context within which it was raised even more so. how ludicrous can it possibly be to take an accusatory tone toward lurkers by insisting that they have no right to be silent. such a pronouncement, as you know from your response, has no respect for the many contingencies that keep people from posting. and much of it has little to do with their cowardice or lack of stamina. again, ken lawrence was right on.

20% of the women subbed [n= approx 15] post regularly/almost daily. 20% of the men subbed post regularly. of the women who post regularly [or did] 2/5 are women of color. of the men, 10%.

since angela, i, and now cat lately are not by any stretch of the imagination marxist enough according to some, then i suspect it highly unlikely that more women will make this list more satsifactory in that regard. indeed, we know already that paula, maria, catherine, margaret have serious shortcomings in their politics as well (according to some) since those women have been variously called "a rube" and told they need to read more marx. and let's not forget i am an ignoramus and an idiot(e).

and catherine...well she's catherine..... catherine is and event and, as such, ineffable.

Why do you think that "humanitarian" imperialism has no implication for gender & racial questions? <<<<

i don't. i think you're right, it is important. it was not, though, important to your discussion about lists.
